Following a recent controversy and a near hit-and-run incident, Ekta Kapoor beefs up her personal security to two armed gunmen and four bodyguards She may be the queen of small screen soaps and a feared one at that, but Ekta Kapoor no longer feels safe in this city. Following the incident, which Mumbai Mirror reported on June 14, where Ekta was almost run over by a car while she was jogging on the road along Juhu beach, she has decided to increase her own security. Earlier, three bodyguards used to accompany Ekta wherever she went. These men were never armed though. But now, four bodyguards and two gunmen track every step Ekta takes and follow her wherever she goes. A source close to Ekta says, “She has six people close to her to ensure that she is well protected. Moreover, there is a car that follows her. This car always has a few more people who have been especially hired to protect her.” Ekta beefed up her security at her mother Shobha Kapoor’s insistence. Her father Jeetendra too was extremely worried after the jogging incident. So agitated was he post the incident, that he had reprimanded the cops at Juhu police station for having taken no action in the near hit-and-run complaint lodged by his daughter. Obviously, his daughter’s account of the driver’s abrasive behaviour had got Jeetendra even more worried. Apparently, the man behind the wheels had allegedly gotten off the car and screamed at Ekta saying, “Aapko footpath pe chalna nahin aata kya? (Don’t you know how to walk on the footpath?)” There is another reason why the Kapoor family has been worried of late. Haji Mastan’s adopted son Sundar Shekhar Mirza recently sent a legal notice to Balaji Telefilms saying that the Kapoors did not take their consent before making Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. The story of the film is supposedly based on the life of Mirza’s late father. “The family wants to take no chances,” says the source, “Shobhaji told Ekta that she must have more people around her who can ensure that no untoward incidents happen to her. Ekta could not argue with her mother and had to obey.” When contacted, Ekta did not deny the story. She simply said, “It’s a very personal matter. I don’t want to discuss this.”

Modernity, glamour, exquisiteness and magnificence are synonymous with Indian weddings, and ace designer Tarun Tahilani promises to bring alive just that with his latest line of exquisite bridal wear in the first-of-its-kind bridal couture event in July’10. Believes Tahiliani, “A wedding is the most important occasion in a person’s life. It is the biggest event across all cultures, especially in India.” How would you describe your latest collection? “My range is a celebration of the wedding fervour. It brings together each aspect of it under a roof in an ambience that reflects the true spirit of an Indian wedding,” he explains. Fine luxury brands such as DLF Emporio, Swarovski and Forevermark will come together to support Tarun in his rendition of bridal ensemble. The staggering procession, clothes, jewels and accessories will be arranged with live performers on interactive models, fibre glass animals in traditional livery and luxury cars. According to the designer, the energies and the irrepressible Indian zest for colour, drape and luxury manifests itself beautifully in the fine couture collection. “The highlight and the mainstay of the exposition is to showcase the intricate Indian bridal couture in the setting it was designed to be worn in.” Worth looking out for will be the use of jewellery and luxury objects that illustrate the progression of design styles, techniques and motifs. Says the man at the helm of affairs, “It will be a perfect place for soon-to-be-brides to chance upon that stone which will seal their wedding vows or a neckpiece which will pass down generations as a precious heirloom. The range will also include a fine display of accessories from luxury watches, travel trunks, hand bags and footwear to name a few.” The expo is all set to have a grand opening night with a lavish six-course sit-down dinner for the affluent and cultural scions of the city. A whole range of artifacts, crystal chandeliers, traditional and exotic flower arrangements, dramatic lighting and effects, theatrical sound and musical performance will only add drama to the event.

The racing track at Irungattukottai was suddenly buzzing with activity last weekend. After all, when funny man Cyrus Sahukar is on the track, how can the people there not come alive? The VJ and actor, who was in the city recently to shoot for one of his television shows, had a whale of time, zipping ahead on the race track and interacting with the participants of the show. His hectic shooting schedule, however, didn’t deter him from posing untiringly for our lensman. Posing near a racing car, Cyrus almost looked like a professional racer. “Don’t go by my appearance. I recently learned driving while shooting for my latest film. But I can definitely pose like a professional,” he starts off in his witty style. So, how is it back being in Chennai? “Fantastic! I have been coming to the city for quite sometime now. My sister lives in Tiruvanmiyur and I often drop in to get away from the madness of Mumbai. And when I’m here, I gorge on all the South Indian delicacies. I’m a big foodie and a trip to Chennai gives me another reason to experiment with food.” The actor has just wrapped up the shooting for his forthcoming project with Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol. “I play Randhir Gambhir in the film, which is an adaptation of the British novel, Emma, written Jane Austen. I cannot reveal anything more than that,” he says matter-of-factly. The actor was last seen as a sleazy photographer in delhi-6 and a radio jockey in Rang De Basanti. Has Cyrus’ focus shifted to Bollywood now? “Not exactly. I love to do interesting work, be it on television, radio or films. I do not want to be stuck with a particular medium. After all, variety is the spice of life. If I get an offer in Tamil films, I would love to take the plunge. I have watched Alaipayuthe and trust me, the film is mind-blowing. And while shooting for a Tamil film, I can indulge in the crispy dosas and hot sambhar,” he beams. Cyrus Broacha, Nikhil Chinapa and Cyrus Sahukar are known as the life of television. Is there any competition among the trio? “It’s more than a decade that we’ve been working together and I do not remember a single day when we had an argument. We always manage to pull each other’s leg. We are funny men, after all,” says Cyrus. Cyrus proudly calls himself a ‘man of accidents’. “Yes! During the shooting of my latest film, I was suffering from malaria. And when I was almost recovered and returned for the shoot, I was hit by another bout of malaria. And when I recuperated from the disease, a sink fell on my leg while I was washing my hands. I also encountered several accidents in the car while learning to drive.” Finally, on future plans, Cyrus says, “I’m working on a few television shows and reading scripts. I just hope that another sink doesn’t fall on my leg. It did hurt a lot!”

Sabkush Entertainment: Review: EclipseReview: Eclipse

The contest to win Bella’s heart may be more serious than ever, but that doesn’t mean her romantic rivals are entirely without a sense of humour. When Edward (Robert Pattinson) reluctantly delivers his beloved Bella (Kristen Stewart) into the protection of a typically topless Jacob (Taylor Lautner) midway through the third installment of the Twilight saga, the vampire rightly wonders, “Doesn’t he own a shirt?” Leaden and quip-less in the previous entries, the buff werewolf has also grown wittier. As they both watch over Bella in a tent high up on a snowy mountain, Jacob insists that it’s up to him to save her from hypothermia – by slipping into her sleeping bag and warming her up. “Face it,” he says with a grin to the pale-faced Edward, “I am hotter than you.” Of course, that debate will continue to rage on, seeing as the film franchise spawned by Stephenie Meyer’s young-adult novels has at least two more movies to go. In the meantime, Eclipse may find favour with more than the millions of Twihards already devoted to the series. Better staged and more briskly paced than its predecessors, yet just as swoony in its evocation of grand passion and impossible love, Eclipse rates as the most assured piece of filmmaking the franchise has produced. The fact that director David Slade, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and the cast allow for more moments of lightness than Meyer’s angst-ridden universe previously allowed actually makes the material seem richer and wiser. That said, we’re not talking Chekhov here; we’re not up to the moral complexity or stylistic audacity of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, either. When we last left Bella and Edward, he had just proposed marriage to her. She agreed, on the condition that she too be made immortal, a stipulation that had already been decreed by the Volturi overlords with whom the couple tangled in New Moon. Edward remains unhappy about this part of the prenuptial agreement, due to the pain and suffering that will be caused by her vampirization.

Sabkush Headlines: Hulu unveils $9.99 premium serviceHulu unveils $9.99 premium service

Hulu, the online TV and film portal, has finally rolled out a subscription service, according to a note posted to the site on Tuesday. For $9.99 a month, subscribers of Hulu Plus get access to a full seasons worth of their favorite TV shows--and even past seasons in some cases--and "not just a handful of trailing episodes" that the free-version of Hulu offers, according to CEO Jason Kilar, who wrote the note. Hulu Plus marks the first time the service has charged for content and its arrival has been long anticipated. Supported by Disney, NBC Universal, and News Corp., some of Hulus backers, especially News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch, have been pushing for a paid service for over a year. The word out of Hollywood for a long time is that advertising just doesnt provide the kind of return that the studios and networks are accustomed to generating. Apparently, when it comes to premium TV shows, the ad-supported model works for television but not for the Web. A monthly service fee may not sit well with some Hulu fans. While the free Hulu service is still available, Internet TV fans have grown accustomed to getting content for free. Critics have noted that Hulu was the first service to actually seize market share away from illegal file-sharing sites. They say that throwing up a pay wall may do nothing more than send people back to pirate sites. But a pay service like the one Hulu proposes could prove attractive to people who dont want to risk violating copyright law and dont mind paying $10 for the ease of watching Internet-distributed video on their TV sets anytime they choose. To some cable subscribers, Hulu Plus could offer an incentive to dump their cable bills. Hulu Plus represents nothing less than the first legal and mainstream Web TV service to offer a significant alternative to cable providers. Sure, Netflixs streaming service offers the best movie selection but that service doesnt have access to the same breadth of TV shows that Hulu Plus offers. Hulu has also made up ground on Netflix when comparing the number of devices that feature the services. Hulu Plus will be available initially to those invited and will be accessible on a range of computers, video game consoles, and handsets, including Apples iPad and iPhone, select Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players, and eventually Sonys PlayStation 3. On Tuesday, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox 360 will also offer Hulu Plus sometime early next year. Video quality on many shows will be available at 720p. Another big winner could be Apple, which will offer Hulu Plus on the iPad and iPhone. Owners of these devices can watch such shows as "30 Rock," "The Office," "Greys Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives," and "House."

Sabkush Headlines: Venus Williams Crashes Out Of Wimbledons

Sabkush Headlines: Venus Williams Crashes Out Of WimbledonsVenus Williams Crashes Out Of Wimbledons

Five-time champion Venus Williams was ousted in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon on Tuesday, losing 6-2, 6-3 to 82nd-ranked Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. The second-seeded Williams, who had reached the Wimbledon final in eight of the past 10 years, was undone by a slew of unforced errors and double faults in the biggest upset of the women’s tournament. In another surprise, 21st-seeded Vera Zvonareva of Russia rallied to beat two-time U.S. Open winner Kim Clijsters 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to reach her first Wimbledon semifinal. The loss rules out another all-sister final between Venus and Serena Williams, the defending champion who faced China’s Li Na in a later quarterfinal. Pironkova also beat Williams in the first round of the Australian Open in 2006, but few gave her a chance of replicating the feat on the grass at the All England Club, where Williams has dominated for a decade. But Williams was clearly off her game and Pironkova took advantage. Williams committed 29 unforced errors, compared to just six for Pironkova. She had five double-faults on serve, including back-to-back doubles in two games. Pironkova denied Williams her 200th career victory on grass and spoiled the prospect of a fifth Wimbledon final against Serena, who beat her older sister last year for her third Wimbledon title. Pironkova becomes the first woman representing Bulgaria to reach a Grand Slam semifinal in the Open era. Bulgarian-born Manuela Maleeva-Fragniere was representing Switzerland when she reached the U.S. Open semifinals in 1992 and 1993. Pironkova broke Williams twice in the first set, winning four straight games after a 2-all tie, then finished the set with a backhand passing shot down the line. After Williams broke to go up 2-1 in the second set, it looked as though she might be able to take command. But Pironkova broke right back in the next game, which included the shot of the match. After Williams hit a forehand drop volley, the Bulgarian raced forward and flipped a backhand lob winner over Williams’ head. Pironkova swung her arm in an uppercut celebration. Down 5-2, Williams saved two match points on serve, but Pironkova served out the match in the next game. After Williams missed a forehand volley, Pironkova squealed and fell on her back on the turf. Pironkova earned a semifinal berth against Zvonareva, who came back from a set down to beat Clijsters on Centre Court. It was the Russian’s first win over Clijsters in six meetings. Clijsters, returning to Wimbledon for the first time since 2006 after coming out of retirement, beat fellow Belgian Justine Henin on Monday and was viewed as a potential title threat. The eighth-seeded Clijsters looked in command after sailing through the first set, but the match turned in the Russian’s favor after she broke to go up 3-1 in the second. Clijsters finished with 36 unforced errors, compared to 19 for Zvonareva. The men had the day off ahead of Wednesday’s quarterfinals.

Sabkush Headlines: Make a little haven for your kid

Sabkush Headlines: Make a little haven for your kidMake a little haven for your kid

Decorating your son or daughter’s bedroom can be a fun task. While most parents go for simple pink or blue interiors with kids today having a say in how they want their room done up, things have definitely changed. Not to fret. You can make your job easy by selecting a theme that your kid is fond of - it can be their favourite colour or cartoon character, superhero or a theme based on one of their favourite hobbies. Make sure you take your child’s point of view into consideration, but also keep in mind the practicalities in terms of your budget and execution. While deciding on the colour scheme for the room, stick to mellow shades or pastels. White is a strict no-no. Avoid very dark shades. If your kid is under 10 years of age, there’s a great chance he/she may scribble on the walls and white will show everything. Create a little space for your little one to do his/her art work. If you are willing to splurge a little on the room, you can get an artist to paint your child’s favourite character on the bedroom wall or go for a wallpaper. Most boys love getting Superman or Spiderman painted on their wall, while girls might opt for butterflies, flowers or fairy characters. This adds colour to the room and sets the theme for the other interiors. Kids tend to change their mind about what they want, so try and include some removable elements in the room like paper lanterns, wind chimes, and other wall hangings. If they are fond of birds, hang paper birds from hooks on the ceiling for a unique look. Also, try and get matching bright curtains. Let your child pick them out in colours and prints that he/she likes.

Sabkush Headlines: Pakistan should act on Headleys revelations, PM tells ObamaPakistan should act on Headleys revelations, PM tells Obama

Toronto: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has told US President Barack Obama that Pakistan should to act on information provided by Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Coleman Headley in order to stop anti-India terrorist activities from its soil. Raising the issue during his meeting Sunday with Obama on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, the prime minister said Pakistan should show its commitment to stopping anti-Indian terrorist activities to promote dialogue between the two neighbours. "They spoke about the ongoing interrogations about the activities of David Coleman Headley and said that both India and the US have mutual interest that information that is coming out of this interrogation is taken seriously by Pakistan with a view to controlling and eliminating terrorist elements on its territory," Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao told media persons here. The talks between Manmohan Singh and Obama took place two days after Indias Home Minister P. Chidambaram took up with his Pakistani counterpart New Delhis continuing concerns over terror emanating from the Pakistani territory. Sabkush Entertainment: Kat cleans the loo!Kat cleans the loo!

Honestly, one more Ms Goody-two-shoes story about Katrina Kaif should give the junta a diabetic stroke. Since she is the current reigning Bollywood princess, everyone has only nice things to say about her. But this little story is still worth telling. Apparently, Kat who travelled to some small time village a couple of months ago for her charity work surprised the locals when she was most non-fussy about the toilet she used. It seems the locals were embarrassed with their modest facilities and thought that a superstar like Kat would hesitate to use their loo. But the actress just cleaned the loo on her own and used it without a fuss. She even remembered to thank the village folk for letting her use their toilet. Nice to know Kat still has a reality check going. We know of one Bengali siren who actually threw a fit in some far out location and had her producer pulling his own hair out in sheer frustration because of her unreasonable demands.

Sabkush Headlines: Sprint Nextel makes strides to improve image

Sabkush Headlines: Sprint Nextel makes strides to improve imageSprint Nextel makes strides to improve image

On Tuesday, Dan Hesse, the companys CEO, will be on stage at Forrester Researchs Customer Experience Forum in New York City to discuss the companys efforts to improve its brand image and customer satisfaction levels. In 2010, Sprint emerged as one of three firms with the biggest improvement in Forresters annual Customer Experience rankings based on a survey of more than 4,600 consumers. Sprint, which is the third largest wireless provider in the U.S., saw its customer satisfaction rating sink to desperation levels a few years ago. But since Hesse took over as CEO two and a half years ago, with a focus on improving customer satisfaction and reviving the companys brand, the company has seen steady improvements. "A year ago, Sprint was in the toilet," said Harley Manning, a vice president at Forrester Research. "But theyve made a concerted effort over the past two years to really turn things around. And now theyre within spitting distance of the other major wireless carriers." Out of a potential 100 points, Sprint went from a rating of 45 in 2009 to a rating of 60 in 2010. While the company still ranks the lowest of all four major U.S. wireless operators, it is not far behind the industry average rating of 65. And if Sprint continues to improve at this pace, the company could lead in customer satisfaction next year. "Sprint has essentially gone from Do not subscribe to my service under any circumstance to being on par with its competitors," Manning added. "And if the momentum continues, and the company makes an improvement of that size again next year, it will certainly shoot past its competitors in terms of customer satisfaction." A bad reputation Sprints reputation for poor customer service and poor network coverage was years in the making. But network and billing problems after the company bought Nextel in 2005 exacerbated an already fragile image. Dissatisfied customers left in droves every quarter. Meanwhile, Sprints competitors, AT&T and Verizon Wireless, gobbled up these Sprint defectors, adding millions of new subscribers every quarter to their rosters. In 2007, Sprint continued to damage its reputation by sending already dissatisfied and disgruntled customers letters terminating their service for calling customer service too often. Finally, as its reputation sank so low and the blood-let of customers was so bad, the companys board of directors ousted then CEO Gary Forsee. A few months later at the end of 2007, Hesse was hired as chief executive to turn the company around. The first order of business for Hesse was to repair Sprints damaged reputation with a new focus on its customers. "When Dan took over in the fourth quarter of 2007, he outlined three main priorities," said Bob Johnson, chief service officer for Sprint. "The first was to improve the companys cash standing, and the other two were to improve the company brand and improve the customer experience." Johnson said that a two and a half years into Hesses tenure as CEO, the three priorities remain the same. "Dan has created a culture around satisfying customers," he said. "Every staff meeting we have starts off with discussing the customer experience. We analyze the data and see where the pain points are and work to improve them." One of the most important changes Sprint made was focusing on resolving customer issues on the first call to a customer care agent. Making the resolution of the customers problem a top priority for care agents helped focus the staff in the call centers, Johnson said. Sprint also changed its compensation model for employees and outsourced call centers. The company tied customer satisfaction directly to compensation for employees. It applied the same model to its outsourced call center partners. Call centers with higher customer satisfaction levels were awarded more calls, while lower performing call centers were phased out. As a result, Sprint has been able to consolidate its call centers and reduce the number of centers it had from 74 to about 44 in the past two years. This reduction has helped the company achieve its objective of serving customers. And it has had the added benefit of reducing cost for the company, which has also helped to achieve one of the companys three main priorities, improving its cash position. As Sprints customer satisfaction levels rise, the company is able to further reduce its the number of calls to customer care, which allows it to continue to consolidate its operations. "Two years ago, our customers called us twice as often as customers for Verizon Wireless or AT&T," Johnson said. "Fast forward to now, and we are in line with our competitors. Instead of the average customer calling us twice a quarter or eight times a year, they are calling us once a quarter or four times a year, which is how often they call our competitors." Manning said that Sprint is on the path toward changing itself from a company that is product-focused to being a company that is customer-focused, which ultimately leads to success. "There arent many companies that say they dont care about their customers," Manning said. "But actually doing the tactical work to change the organization and culture, such as changing compensation and making one executive accountable for the customer experience, is something different. And Sprint is doing it."

Sabkush Headlines: Big B In Ooty To Shoot For Malayam Film On Kandahar HijackBig B In Ooty To Shoot For Malayam Film On Kandahar Hijack

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, back after a refreshing holiday with family in London, will be facing the camera to shoot for a Malayalam film based on the 1999 Kandahar Air India flight hijack episode with Mohan Lal in Ooty. Bachchan flew to Coimbatore this morning and travelled to Ooty by road to join the cast and crew of the film being directed by Major Ravi. Big B said even though the language will be Malayalam, his character in the film is North Indian so he shall be speaking in Hindi, with an odd sentence in Malayalam. "Now that shall be tough, but effort shall be made, lets see what happens," he wrote on his blog. As soon as he landed in Coimbatore, the Bollywood legend turned nostalgic and tweeted, "Doing this after ages.. Nostalgic.. So many movies shot here.. Family holidays with kids.. " The actors role in the film will require him to shoot for three days and has declined the charge fee for his work. He said South Indian superstar Mohan Lal has been and still is one of the most incredible talents from Kerala and the Malayalam film industry. The two shared screen space in Ram Gopal Varmas Aag, a remake of Sholay where Mohan Lal essayed the role of Thakur and Bachchan played dacoit Gabbar Singh. Bachchan said he was a great admirer of Mohan Lal and his work. "He has a unique body and face language. You get the feeling that he is doing nothing, yet it results in the most amazing results - natural, without effort and effective. Just such a joy to watch him," Bachchan said. The idea of working in a Malayalam film fructified during Bachchans visit to Kerala to felicitate Resul Pookuty, the Oscar winner from "Slumdog Millionaire". Mohan Lal was a guest at the function and came up to Bachchan with the offer of working with him in Major Ravis movie. "My admiration for Mohan Lal could never have made me refuse this offer and so I do it for him," he said. Bachchan blogged that that he was visiting Ooty after ages. "I think last shot.. Dostana, Mard and Aakhri Raasta, Hum there. Wonder if it has become more crowded and if the forests and hills and lakes have been left in their pristine condition," he said. However, reports that the area might have problems with internet connections are worrying Big B, who has become tech savvy interacting with fans through his tweets and blog. "Reports of advance parties are that I may have a problem with internet connections. Hope this is not true. It has become our lifeline.. has it not ? No Internet - no Blog or tweet!," he wrote.

Sabkush Headlines: 12-Hour Bharat Bandh Call On Monday July 5

Sabkush Headlines: 12-Hour Bharat Bandh Call On Monday July 512-Hour Bharat Bandh Call On Monday July 5

The issue of fuel price hike has brought almost the entire opposition together with the BJP-led NDA and Left parties giving a call for a nation-wide strike on July 5 demanding a rollback. The NDA and the Left parties made separate announcements in this regard and JD-U chief Sharad Yadav claimed that it was the first such instance of opposition unity after the "JP movement" in the mid-seventies. "There has been no difference among the entire opposition on the issue of fuel price hike. Every party has condemned it and demanded a rollback," Yadav, who is the NDA convenor, told reporters. His call for a 12-hour Bharat Bandh came hours after the Left and non-BJP opposition parties called a 12-hour nation-wide strike on July five to protest the governments decision to increase the prices of petroleum products. All essential services like supply of water, milk, electricity, hospital and emergency services will be exempt from the hartal, they said. Several opposition parties have already declared that they would raise the issue vociferously in Parliament with the monsoon session expected to commence by July-end. "Check prices or leave the chair (Dam roko ya gaddi chhoro), Price Rise affects all communities (Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai, sabke ghar me hai mahangai," will be the Oppositions slogans during the agitation, Yadav said. He said an effort for a joint protest by the Opposition over the fuel price hike was made during budget session of Parliament in March this year, but it could not materialise. Besides the four Left parties, the AIADMK, TDP, Samajwadi Party, BJD, JD(S) and INLD "have decided to call for a country-wide hartal on July five", a joint statement by top leaders of CPI(M), CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc said here. Yadav, who made efforts for the entire opposition to come together for the bandh, downplayed non-inclusion of his partys name as also that of NDA in the Left parties statement on the strike. "There are so many internal contradictions in the country. But the issue of fuel price hike is a very serious issue. Peoples interest come before parties...It was necessary for all parties to come together so that people can express their anger over the issue," Yadav said. The Left leaders have said they were in discussions with some other "secular opposition" parties to join the hartal, which will be held from 0600 hours to 1800 hours. However, there is no word from RJD, LJP and BSP so far on whether they would join this Bharat Bandh on July 5 or not. Yadav said CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav were talking to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan over the issue. Incidentally, both Paswan and Prasad have already announced agitation over the issue on a different day. Sharad Yadav said he has held talks with BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, Prakash Karat, CPI leader A B Bardhan, AIADMK chief Jayalalitha, Mulayam, JDS President HD Devegowda, PMK chief Ramdoss, Indian National Lok Dal President O P Chautala, Akali Dal leader Prakash Singh Badal, BJD chief Naveen Patnaik and Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray. Attacking the Centre over the hike, Yadav said that the government has ignored the countys interests and handed over it "to the market". Yadavs remarks came after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh rejected the Oppositions criticism of the governments decision to hike fuel prices, saying the move to free petrol and diesel rates was "much-needed" reforms and that there should be no "excessive populism". The JD(U) chief had earlier said, "Government is under a false impression that the opposition is divided and hence, it can do whatever it likes. The Centres notion about any division in the opposition should be dispelled."

Sabkush Headlines: Can sex toys, condoms cause infection? Can sex toys, condoms cause infection?

Question: Can the use of sex toys, tampons or condoms cause vaginal infection? What are its symptoms? (Chander Shoor asked to sabkush.com) Answer: Bacterial infection in the vagina is not uncommon. There are cases of fungal infection too. Itchiness, soreness, any discharge other than white or menstrual and a fishy smell are symptoms of vaginal infection. Since, condoms are quality tested, sterilised and sealed, they don’t cause infection. When using tampons, check the brand. Unseal a tampon just before using so that it is not exposed to bacteria. Change your tampon frequently, depending on the amount of bleeding. Since sex toys are foreign bodies being inserted into your vagina, they can cause infection. Always clean and sterilise them before using. The material of the sex toy is also important. It shouldn’t be made of hard or toxic materials.

Sabkush Headlines: Windows 8 leaks show Microsofts eyes on Apple

Sabkush Headlines: Windows 8 leaks show Microsofts eyes on AppleWindows 8 leaks show Microsofts eyes on Apple

Although still early in the process, newly leaked documents about Windows 8 offer some keen insight into where Microsoft wants to head with the next version of the operating system. One thing that is made abundantly clear is that Microsoft has been paying attention to Apple. In the documents, which appear to come from an April meeting with computer makers, Microsoft discusses its Cupertino, Calif.-based rival and outlines plans to offer a Windows Store similar to the way Apple distributes software on its iPhone. The documents, which Microsoft has declined to comment on or authenticate, also talk about plans to give Windows a more iPad-like response time through new power management settings. In particular, one slide titled "How Apple Does It: A Virtuous Cycle," talks about the need for simplicity in design. "Apple brand is known for high quality, uncomplicated, it just works," the slide says, adding that "This is something people will pay for!" Other slides dont directly reference Apple, but talk about the need for a number of features popularized by its products, including the App Store, as well as a more instant-on feel. Although Windows has continued to dominate the PC market, still holding roughly 95 percent of global market share, it faces a significant threat from mobile operating systems looking to encroach on the low end of the computer market, including the iPad and Android-based devices. Hewlett-Packard, which originally talked about plans for a Windows 7-based slate PC in January, now refuses to say whether it will build that product and has since announced plans to buy Palm in a deal expected to close shortly. Microsoft has been working on tablets for nearly a decade and, as early as 2005, outlined the hardware trends that would enable a device like the iPad. Thus far, however, only Apple has been able to create a hit with consumers. Among the goals outlined for Windows 8 are some features that would appear to be aimed at making Windows more competitive in this market, including improved simplicity, better support of touch and gestures, as well as support for smaller-size screens.

Sabkush Lifestyle News: Up your sex life with Feng Shui.

Sabkush Lifestyle News: Up your sex life with Feng Shui.Up your sex life with Feng Shui

For you to have great sex, you need to not only be in the mood but your immediate surrounding, which is your bedroom should be in tip-top shape. In a good feng shui bedroom, every item will reflect the clear intent for love, healing and relaxation. A good feng shui bedroom is one that promotes a harmonious flow of nourishing and sensual energy. It invites you, excites and calms at the same time. It is fun and a pleasurable to be in, either you are there for a quick nap, a good night sleep or to make passionate love! Says Feng Shui Master Mohan Deep, “Relationships can be treated by correcting the energies of the bedroom. Since the bedroom is all about peace, harmony, love and passion, the right Feng Shui enhances the relationship and over the years I have seen that Feng Shui corrections have saved several marriages. Right environment including colours and the position of the bed do the trick. In fact the way a bedroom looks gives me an insight into the state of a couple’s marriage." To create a good feng shui bedroom, ensure the basics are in place: Pure air: Open the windows often or use a good quality air-purifier to keep the air fresh and full of oxygen. Be mindful of the quality of air in your bedroom. You cannot have good feng shui in your bedroom if the air you breathe in is stale and full of pollutants. Please note that plants in the bedroom are not good feng shui, unless your bedroom is fairly large and the plants are located far from the bed. Light effects: It would be a good idea to have several levels of lighting. Maybe a table lamp and a few on the walls would work just fine. Buy sexy candles to have a large dose of good feng shui, but be sure they are not toxic. No electronics: Avoid keeping a TV, computer or exercise equipment in your bedroom. The good feng shui energy in your bedroom is destroyed thanks to electronic items in your bedroom. Colour me good: Use soothing colours to achieve a good feng shui balance. Best feng shui colours for the bedroom vary from pale white to rich chocolate brown. Choose colours within this range that will work best for your bedroom décor. Image wise: Take care in choosing the images for your bedroom, as they carry powerful feng shui energy. Look for paintings or art pieces that you want to occur in your life. Completely do away with sad or lonely images. Shut the world out: Keep all the bedroom doors closed at night, be it the closet doors, the en-suite bathroom door or the bedroom door. This will allow for the best and most nourishing flow of energy to strengthen your health, as well as the health of your relationship. Follow these basic feng shui guidelines for your bed: • Have your bed easily approachable from both sides • Have two bedside tables (one on each side) • Avoid having the bed in a direct line with the door • A good looking and well-balanced bed is very important in creating a perfect feng shui bedroom. Good mattress, solid headboard and high quality sheets from natural fibres are also very important in creating harmonious feng shui energy.

Before the Censor Board gets ideas and gets ready with their scissors to chop off Zoya Akhtar’s film, the yet unfinished Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, let us make it clear that Katrina and Kalki weren’t in the nude shooting for any scenes with Hrithik, Abhay or Farhan. In fact the two stunning women along with the actors and the crew including co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani, were in for a surprise when they set their feet on the sandy shores of Costa Brava in Spain. All the vacationers were sunbathing in the nude there. But more than the actors and crew’s embarassment, especially the spot boys who had not been to a nude beach before, the Adams and Eves on the beach were left red faced as they thought that the men with cameras were going to film them. “We continued shooting the scene for the film and allowed them total privacy. In fact, we had to try hard to see that none of the bathers were captured on camera when we were filming coz the censor board would have issues with it then,” said a unit hand and added, “in fact we looked like the odd ones on that nude beach coz we were the only ones who were dressed from head to toe. And about the embarassment, well after shooting among the Adams and Eves for 12 hours, we all got used to the scenes in front of us.”

Sabkush Headlines: Okazaki eyes more goals

Sabkush Headlines: Okazaki eyes more goalsOkazaki eyes more goals

Shinji Okazaki is hungry for more glory in the FIFA World Cup™ last-16 clash with Paraguay on Tuesday after helping to end a worrying goal drought for Japans strikers. "I want to score more goals," he told reporters Friday, the day after Japan beat Denmark 3-1 to reach the knockout stages for the first time on foreign soil. Japan will face Paraguay in Pretoria on Tuesday for a place in the quarter-finals. "I have ideas oozing out of my head about how I should play in the tournament," the J-League Shimizu S-Pulse forward added. "As a forward, I must score goals. There have been players who have lived with regrets after failing to score in World Cups. In that sense, I simply feel happy." Playing as a second-half substitute for the third straight game, Okazaki scored Japans third goal against Denmark after they went ahead with superb free-kicks by CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda and Gamba Osaka veteran Yasuhito Endo. Okazaki became the first striker to hit the target for Japan in seven internationals since he struck in the 2-0 win over Bahrain in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier in March, his first goal this year. It was a far cry from Okazakis scoring spree last year when he chalked up a whopping 15 international goals - mostly against weak sides and including hat-tricks against Hong Kong and an under-strength Togo. "I hope I will get better and better and fight on as I grow," Okazaki said. "I will score my second goal and then the third. Ill take one goal at a time." Japan as a team have also lacked firepower, scoring only one goal - through centre-back Marcus Tulio Tanaka - in their four-match losing streak in FIFA World Cup warm-ups against Serbia, South Korea, England and Côte dIvoire. Honda, playing as a lone frontman, hit the winner in the 1-0 win over Cameroon in their World Cup opener. Japan went down 1-0 to the Netherlands in the second group game. "South Americans are tougher in one-on-one battles for the ball," Okazaki said. "We must not be outdone there. If we play with confidence, I think we can overcome them. It will be a really important match where I can show my stuff."

Sabkush Headlines: Mens beauty concerns

Sabkush Headlines: Mens beauty concernsMens beauty concerns

Men in New Zealand are very much worried about their looks with hair loss, dandruff and weight gain being their three biggest concerns, according to a new survey. In the Head & Shoulders Hair Retain Survey , 29 per cent said that they were worried about having dandruff and 26 per cent were concerned about losing their hair. The results of the trans-Tasman survey also show that males were anxious about their waistlines. 63 per cent were concerned about putting on weight. The survey involved over 2,000 respondents. Auckland psychologist Sara Chatwin says having hair is closely aligned with many masculine characteristics, so when men lose their hair, their self-esteem often plummets. "Many men define themselves by the way they wear their hair. This may be due to traditional beliefs that suggest hair is associated with virility, social status, strength and youth,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Chatwin as saying. "When their hair diminishes or gets dandruff (that is perceived as dirty) men may feel less virile, weak, older and generally less attractive," Chatwin added.

Sabkush Headlines: NSG Defers Rule Change Against India, Questions Sino-Pak Deal

Sabkush Headlines: NSG Defers Rule Change Against India, Questions Sino-Pak DealNSG Defers Rule Change Against India, Questions Sino-Pak Deal

In a week of energetic nuclear diplomacy, the government has forestalled a potentially negative change in global rules on nuclear technology transfer to India, got Japan’s assent to begin a dialogue on bilateral nuclear cooperation and is all set to sign a nuclear deal with Canada, reports Indian Express. Although China might yet get away with its sale of two new nuclear reactors to Pakistan, the 46-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group today underlined the importance of openness in Beijing’s nuclear negotiations with Islamabad. In an oblique reference to the discussions on the proposed Sino-Pak nuclear deal, the full details of which are yet to emerge, the NSG in a statement issued after two days of deliberations in Christchurch, New Zealand underlined “the value of ongoing consultation and transparency”. If India’s diplomacy with the 46-nation NSG was a preventive one, it took a lot of pro-active engagement in getting Japan to start the nuclear negotiations and Canada to conclude them. Tokyo and Ottawa are near fanatical in their commitment to the non-proliferation regime. Earlier this week, India was surprised by reports that the NSG was closing ranks to approve new rules that would restrict the transfer of enriched uranium and reprocessing technologies to India. Acting swiftly, the Foreign Office formally cautioned the United States, France, Russia, Britain and Germany against any retrospective modification of the NSG guidelines against India. In separate demarches issued to the envoys of major powers and the NSG host New Zealand here this week, the Foreign Office made it clear that any diminution of the “clean waiver” to the guidelines of the NSG that India had negotiated so carefully in September 2008 would be unacceptable. If new criteria such as membership of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty were to be approved for future transfers of enrichment and reprocessing technologies, India insisted that its own waiver should be excluded from those. Whether the Indian logic was accepted in toto or not, the NSG today did hold back from announcing a change in the terms of transfer for enrichment and reprocessing technologies. In its statement issued today, the NSG pointed to postponement of the decision in stating that members had “agreed to continue considering ways to further strengthen guidelines dealing with the transfer of enrichment and reprocessing technologies”. More welcome in Delhi today was news from Tokyo, where the Japanese foreign minister Katsuya Okada announced the decision to start negotiating an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation with India. During the last year, France and the United States, whose reactor vendors have collaborations with Japanese companies, have been pressing Tokyo to clear the legal path for their nuclear cooperation with India. “There are projects that suppliers of other countries are involved in (in India) that require Japanese technologies and components. That is a point of consideration,” Okada told a news conference. That there is powerful opposition in Tokyo to nuclear cooperation with Delhi was reflected in an editorial of the ‘Asahi Shimbun’ newspaper on Thursday which called it “inappropriate” for Japan to embark on nuclear cooperation with India, “a nation that has armed itself with nuclear weapons and has not signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT)”. Delhi appreciates that in courting a major controversy at home, the new Japanese government led by Naoto Kan has unveiled a positive gesture towards India. The two sides are wasting no time and have decided to hold the first round of nuclear negotiations next Monday. As one set of important nuclear negotiations begin in Tokyo, another will be brought to successful closure in Toronto this weekend when India and Canada sign an agreement for bilateral nuclear cooperation. Like Japan, Canada is a vocal champion of nuclear non proliferation, and has nursed for decades a deep bitterness about India’s first nuclear test in 1974. As one of India’s earliest partners in nuclear energy, Canada felt betrayed at India’s use of plutonium from a research reactor that Ottawa helped build. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will have the pleasure of bringing that unpleasant chapter in India’s nuclear history to a close.
