The India Youth Icon Awards, a platform to identify and honour young Indians who can be emulated for their varied contribution and exemplary merit across various fields, having made a positive imprint on the society, was held recently in Gurgaon.

Gurgaon, Sep 26 Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi was named Icon of the Year, while actors Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan bagged the youth icon awards in the entertainment..

LOVE AAJ KAL has completed 50 days at the box office and in the process has netted more than Rs. 65 crores just from India. Post the celebrations, the film's producer and lead actor Saif Ali Khan is having a new vision for his career going forward. He is looking at doing fewer films while mixing bona fide wide canvas commercial films along with one small film a year.

"That's the kind of game plan I am looking at building for myself from here on", says Saif who took off for a US and Europe vacation with Kareena Kapoor soon after LOVE AAJ KAL was declared a super success, "I would now be working on 2-3 films a year and make sure that I cover a wide spectrum. While a couple of them would be big nice commercial films, another would be a relatively smaller film which can be completed in 30 days flat."

Once back from vacation, Saif Ali Khan has participated in a couple of ad shoots. However, shooting for his next film AGENT VINOD is still a little distance away.

"Final touches on the script are being given and we have been looking at getting the best technicians on board. I guess by end of this year, we should begin shooting", says Saif, "In any case I am in no tearing hurry to ready my next film. One should space things out, invest good time to publicize things and get the right preparation in place for the making of the film."

Meanwhile he is highly excited about the 27th November release of his next film KURBAAN. A Karan Johar production which is directed by debutant Rensil D'Silva, KURBAAN stars Kareena Kapoor as the female protagonist along with Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kirron Kher and Om Puri.

He is 43 and she is 29, but their age difference is no matter. Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor make an 'adorable' couple on screen in his forthcoming 'Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna', says debutant director Prem Soni.

'The age difference between Salman and Kareena was never a consideration. They make an absolutely adorable couple and complement each other on screen,' Soni told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

'They look good together in the film as there are no loud moments between them. The film has romantic instances here and there, but it has a very subtle treatment. There are cute scenes in the film and both of them have carried them really well,' he added.

Newcomer Soni considers Salman his 'godfather' and says the superstar was on board the project as soon as he heard the script and even asked his brother to produce the film.

'I had written the script and then fixed an appointment with Salman. His reaction after the narration was overwhelming. All he said was, 'I'm doing it'. That's how the project began,' the director said.

'Salman is indeed my godfather in the industry as he is the one who has given me a break,' he added.

For Soni, it was a cakewalk to get Kareena to play the heroine. 'I went for the script narration to Kareena in Goa where she was shooting 'Golmaal Returns'. She loved the role and when I told her that Salman is doing the film, she said - 'Why would I say no to Salman?'. She instantly agreed,' he said.

'Kareena is such a delight to work with. She is among the finest actors these days. She is so effervescent and so dedicated as an actor,' he said.

A co-production of Sohail Khan Productions and UTV SpotBoy Pictures, the film also features Sohail in a pivotal role. But unlike popular belief, the film's plot is not based on an extramarital affair, Soni clarified.

''Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna' is not based on an extramarital affair. It is just a story of three people. The whole extramarital thing is only a perception. For the real thing, you need to go and check out the movie,' he said.

Asked about the USP of the movie, Soni said: 'Its simplicity. The movie is very ordinary, very simple. It will touch a billion hearts with its real touch and that is what will make the story effective to the audience. We have given it a very contemporary look, but it isn't flashy at all.'

'Main Aurr Mrs.Khanna' releases Oct 16, the same day as much-awaited action flick 'Blue' and comedy 'All The Best', but Soni says he is unperturbed.

'I have no apprehensions. It takes a lot of energy for every filmmaker to make a movie. So there are no hard feelings for anyone. May the best win because they are all of different genres and have their own set of audiences,' he said.

Sudhir Nema as Inaayat Ali - One of close friend of Husmatullah, and the head of shopkeeper association of the local Muslim community. He is of the kind to toe the lines laid before him by his community leaders and never to question the rationality behind it, until one day he questions his own judgement, being moved by the belief of his friend Husmatullah. Vijay Mishra as Rafat - He is the eldest son and has the same attributes as his father. Sensible, sensitive and compassionate he is the only one who truly understands the struggle of his father and stands along with him all the way. Rajan Bhise as Shoukat - Younger brother of Hasmatullah. When Hasmat goes against his zamaat to pursue his inner voice, he like others stands against him. He blames Hasmat of bringing trouble to the family but still feels enraged and concerned when Hasmat is manhandled. Towards the end, reconciled by the vision of Hasmat he joins him like all others.

Hadbahedi, a small but beautiful town, is forward looking but honest. It competes for resources and recognition with a neighbouring corrupt town - Triphala. Hadbadedians believe that they have been totally neglected by the state and seek an identity. They are lead in this endeavour, by Arun, the local newspaper's proprietor. Things brighten when they discover that Rishi/Chintu Kapoor was actually born in their village 55 years back. A grand welcome follows.

Chintu arrives with Devika Malhotra, his young and dynamic PR agent. He is a nuisance at Hadbahedi and treats the innocent people of Hadbahedi with contempt. The brattish and obnoxious behaviour of Chintuji is in stark contrast to the genial, innocent nature of the townies. Arun and Devika get along well, their romance blossoming, while ruthless Chintu falling prey to the tempting monetary and political offer made by Triphala. The town by now has started getting the media and government's attention due to Chintu's stay in Hadbadehi. However, he continues to play havoc with the lives of the people. Chintu with the tempting offer from Triphala, on one side, and Arun-Devika with the town folk on the other, are at the middle of a see-saw climax, while concurrently, Arun's past unfolds for the audience.
