Sabkush Headlines: FIFA leaves women complaining!FIFA leaves women complaining!
Are you tired of the football fever already? Nursing a bruised ego that your man chose the match over you? Well, you are not alone. There are many women in the city who are also going through the same. It’s football everywhere and everyone is immersed in it. We all have to agree that the only time guys pay more attention to guys than to girls is during a football match and that shows just how important this game is to them. It’s completely unwise to give them foolish ultimatums during FIFA like —choose between me or the match — unless you’re willing to get your ego bruised severely. Probably the worst thing to tell a man during FIFA is, “It’s just a game! Why are you getting so hyper about it?†Football to guys is like a matter of life and death, it’s not just a game — it would do you good, girls, to keep that in mind for the next few weeks! We spoke to a few women who share their woes. Shilpi Nandy, a human resource professional and a mother of a four-year-old boy says, “We have always had a rocking sex-life. But with the world cup, things have taken a back seat. My husband is glued to the TV. I always look forward to the time that we would get to spend together after we both come back from work. These days, it is just the television and when there is no match, he reads newspapers and magazines that feature stories on football.†The late-night matches leave men too tired for any more action feel some women. “After the match is over, usually, my partner is in no mood for anything. Football is extremely exhausting for men, I feel, because they are so completely into it. It is almost as if he is actually on the field. Since I am not much of a football fan I feel quite left out,†complains Tania Singh, an entrepreneur. However, all women are not complaining. Neepa Jalan, a media person reasons cheekily, “I think women should stop fretting about the lack of sex because of late-night football matches and should just take a break. Why not enjoy the celibate life for a while?†But there are women who feel differently. Archana Chitre, assistant vice president in a private organisation, chuckles, “I am a typical urban wife. Football or no football, I don’t get enough sex anyway. Either my hubby is busy travelling or we have our four-year-old son sleeping between us!†Archana’s husband is a football fan but he has his priorities right. “My husband avoids the late-night match because our son has to leave for school early,†she states. Our high-speed urban life does have many demands and revising the list of our priorities can go a long way in keeping disappointment at bay. Women and men who are not avid fans should either start taking an interest and try and learn more about the game or should just learn to enjoy the temporary celibate life!
