KKR camp begins on Saturday
"Our players were busy with domestic commitments for the entire season. Now it is time to assemble and tune up ahead of the IPL," Knight Riders CEO Joydeep Bhattacharya told PTI. "Shah Rukh will be coming on March 3 and the camp will be conducted under the supervision of coach Dav Whatmore, (mentor) Wasim Akram and (captain) Sourav Ganguly," Bhattacharya said. Players will join the camp depending on availability as it will continue till the IPL begins on April 12, Bhattacharya said. Asked about the availibility of foreign players including their new recruit Shane Bond who is at present busy with New Zealands home series against Australia, he said, "They are expected, depending on their availibility." The 1996 World Cup winning Sri Lankan coach, Whatmore, is already in town, while Akram will join the side on March 2. The availability of Ganguly, who is representing Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, depends on the teams progress in the National One-dayers in which they face Karnataka in the semi-final at Vadodara tomorrow. The side will also have support staff in Vijay Dahiya (assistant coach), Andrew Leipus (physiotherapist) and Adrian le Roux (trainer). KKR will open their campaign against reigning champions Deccan Chargers in the inaugural match of the third edition of the IPL at DY Patil Grounds in Mumbai on April 12.
